Source startups
Learn how to source top startups for investment on OpenVC
OpenVC gives you two ways to source startups for investment:
- Create a profile and let startups directly contact you
- Actively request decks from startups you're interested in
Here's how it works.
Create a profile and let startups directly contact you
Once your investor account is created, make sure to complete your profile: Investment thesis, Check size, Countries of investment, Stage of investment, Lead preferences, etc. This information will be used to show you to the best fit startups.
Then, in your account, select how you want to be contacted:
- Email submission: Founders will be able to directly email you via the OPenVC platform. Your email address will not be publicly exposed. You will never receive more than 2 submissions per week. Each submission is screened by our team to ensure minimal quality and fit.
- Intro preferred: You can also opt-out of receiving emails and set up your profile as “Intro preferred”. Founders won't be able to email you, but your profile will still be visible on the platform. Founders will then have to figure out a way to contact you.
Actively request decks from startups you're interested in
As an investor on OpenVC, you can access OpenFlow.
OpenFlow if a free, anonymized list of the startups currently raising on OpenVC. It can be found at openvc.app/flow
Startups on OpenFlow can be filtered by industry, country, round size, etc. A short description is available for each company, including their growth level, funding secured, or track record when available.
However, the startups are anonymized: you won't find their names or the founder's identity. Instead, you can click a button “Request deck” to let the founders know you'd like to talk.
They will receive your request and reply or decline.
